The man police said was involved in a shooting that caused chaos at a 2023 July 4th gathering in Naples will spend 10 years in prison.
Alexzander Goodwin, 19, of Portland was sentenced today after pleading guilty to two charges, according to a news release from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
A 16-year-old boy was wounded when he was shot three times by Goodwin.
The teen had gathered with others on the Naples Causeway to watch a fireworks display, which was soon canceled amid the chaos and confusion following the shooting.
Goodwin was arrested two days later in Auburn.
On Monday, Goodwin received an 18 year sentence with all but five years suspended for elevated aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon.
He also received a consecutive sentence of five years for trafficking in scheduled drugs, according to the release.
Goodwin will be under supervised probation upon his release.
He is currently confined at Cumberland County Jail.
