As expected, the latest atmospheric river impacted Ventura and LA counties on Monday.
Next in line for heavy rain beginning early Tuesday will be Orange County and Inland Empire, along with southern LA County.
Here's the breakdown
Plan for periods of rain through Wednesday.
Early Monday morning, the first wave of light to heavy rain began falling over Ventura County, then pushed into LA County through the morning commute.
Overnight into early Tuesday morning, the rain will begin to sweep across the OC and the Inland Empire. Notice the timestamps below.
The rain could get heavy, especially if a thunderstorm develops. That chance exists overnight into Tuesday morning and again Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
Thunderstorms could lead to intense bursts of wind, hail and downpours, leading to neighborhood and highway flooding.
There’s a slight chance right now that there may be enough instability and energy in the atmosphere that a funnel cloud or a tornado could form on Tuesday.
At any time during the storm, it could be upgraded to a flash flood warning if strong storm cells move through the area and flooding is imminent or is occurring.
Already, one to two inches of rain fell in Los Angeles County through early Monday. And two to three inches of rain fell in Ventura County.
Orange and San Diego counties and the Inland Empire will receive between an inch or two as well once the storm’s second wave pushes through Tuesday.
Skiers, snowboarders and tubers will love the fresh pow!
