Fourth of July weekend is coming up, but will the weather be ideal for grilling and fireworks?

Some areas will have to deal with rain throughout the weekend, but others will see hot and dry weather.

What You Need To Know

  • Rain and thunderstorms will be on-and-off throughout the holiday weekend

  • Most areas will see dry conditions on Monday for fireworks

  • Temperatures start on the pleasant side and creep up through Monday

On Saturday, most of the eastern U.S. will have to deal with some on-and-of rain. It could be heavy at times, and we might even get a few rumbles of thunder throughout the day. Have backup plans if you already planned some outdoor activities.

The rain lets up for the Northeast on Sunday, but the South and Southeast will continue to see wet weather throughout the day. We do expect some rain to fall in the Northwest, though.

The Fourth of July doesn't look like a washout for everyone. Mostly everyone in the Northeast and western U.S. will see dry weather for the day, perfect for the fireworks show in the evening.

However, areas in the Southeast, Midwest and Northwest will have to deal with some spot rain and thunderstorms. Hopefully, they are more on than off during the evening show.

Temperatures start off pretty pleasant for most on Saturday, ranging from the 60s to 80s across the country. The exception will be the South, where highs will hit the 90s and 100s.

We'll see temperatures creep up on Sunday and Monday, especially for the center of the U.S.

Enjoy your holiday weekend!

But, if you're seeing hot temperatures, take breaks indoors and stay hydrated throughout the day.

If you're getting the thunderstorms, have a backup indoor plan in place, and always head inside if you hear thunder.
