HALEIWA, Hawaii — The women's competition starts Thursday at Hurley Pro Sunset Beach, which is the last stop in Hawaii for the World Surf League 2022 Championship Tour before it continues on its third leg to Peniche, Portugal, for the MEO Pro Portugal surf competition.

It's another Town vs. Country showdown as Carissa Moore (who now sits at World no. 2) sees another opportunity to beat recent Billabong Pipeline Pro winner and Pupukea native Moana Jones Wong (who sits at World no. 1).

Moore will also face 16-year-old Haleiwa prodigy Bettylou Sakura Johnson who won the Final in the Pro Junior at the age of 15 in 2020.
