WORCESTER, Mass. - The Worcester county sheriff is engaging in random acts of kindness this week. It's an effort his office said is meant to boost people's spirits.

It comes during Random Acts Of Kindness Week.

Tuesday, Lew Evangelidis visited Chick-Fil-A in Worcester to hand out goody bags filled with donated items.

He said his goal is to visit all 60 cities and towns to distribute more than 3,500 bags.

"Just a way to say have a nice day, no strings attached, just appreciate, you know, being here and just want to say thank you and that's it” said Sheriff Evangelidis. “And we love to do it as a sheriff's department because we believe it's important to build bonds with the community to show them that we are partners with them. So, it's a special day. Our department is really embraced this over the last 3 or 4 years. We started it during covid and it's continued to grow and it's a really fun day for us."

This is the fourth year the sheriff's office has participated in Random Acts of Kindness Week.
