CLEVELAND — An unsolved Cleveland murder-case is gaining national attention once more.

The 2019 unsolved homicide case of Carnell Sledge, 40, and Kate Brown, 33, was discussed on Netflix’s latest season of “Unsolved Mysteries.” The show started streaming in 2020 and is a documentary series covering “real cases of perplexing disappearances, shocking murders and paranormal encounters.”

On June 4, 2019, around 5 p.m., Sledge and Brown were sitting on a bench alongside the river in the Rocky River Reservation in Fairview Park, Ohio. The two had met at the pull-off lot north of the Lorain Road bridge. While sitting, both Sledge and Brown were shot in the head, according to the FBI.

“We’re hopeful that this national spotlight will result in new tips and leads to solve this case,” said Cleveland Metroparks Police Chief Kelly Stillman in a news release. “This investigation remains a top priority of the Cleveland Metroparks Police Department and will remain as such until we can bring justice and closure to the victims’ families.”

The Metroparks Police continue to work the case alongside Crimestoppers and the FBI. Anyone who shares information that leads to a successful arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible for the deaths is eligible for reward money. Tips can be given anonymously.
