Budgets can be tight, especially with inflated prices. One big annual expense is owning a car. According to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, in 2022, owning a car could cost around $10,000 per 15,000 miles.

In Ithaca, there’s a solution for people who don’t own a car. Ithaca Carshare, a nonprofit, is finally back in business.

Carshare had to pause operations due to state insurance law in May 2023. The insurance provider stopped offering coverage and Carshare ran out of options. A state law had to be passed to get it back on the road.
