The state of Hawaii and its respective counties observe Labor Day on Sept. 5, and state, county and other government agencies have announced services and operations that are closed or modified.

On Oahu, all City and County of Honolulu offices will be closed on Sept. 5. All emergency medical services, fire, police, lifeguard and the medical examiner will be in operation. The same is true for transfer stations, convenience centers, H-Power, and the Waimanalo Gulch Sanitary Landfill. Trash will also be collected.  

Parks, botanical gardens, municipal golf courses and the Honolulu Zoo will be open.

The Neal S. Blaisdell Center box office, all satellite city halls and driver licensing centers will be closed. People’s Open Markets will not be held. 

The City and County of Honolulu’s COVID-19 testing site located at the City's Mobile Lab at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For details and to register for a test visit oahucitypass.lumisight.com

In Lanikai, parking will be restricted over the three-day weekend from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

Elsewhere, on-street parking will be free, with the exception of meters along Queen Kapiolani Park on Kalakaua Avenue, metered parking lots and meters on certain streets in Waikiki. 

Lastly, traffic lanes will not be coned for contraflow.

On Maui, all county offices will be closed on Friday, in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

All County of Kauai offices will also be closed on Sept. 5, as will all neighborhood centers. Other services and facilities that will be closed on the holiday include the COVID-19 testing at the Hanalei Neighborhood Center parking lot and Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall; the Puhi Metals Recycling Center, Reynolds Recycling HI5 Redemption locations; the Kekaha Landfill and all refuse transfer stations.

The Waimea swimming pool is normally closed on Mondays, so the holiday will be observed Tuesday, Sept. 6.

The Kauai Bus will be operating on its regular schedule and residential refuse collection will remain unchanged.

All County of Kauai offices and services will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, Sept 6.
