CINCINNATI — You don’t need to waste away in Margaritaville to find some tiki time, just take a cruise down the Ohio River.

“Aloha! Welcome to SS Tiki Tours, Cincinnati’s Number 1 party boat where all your dreams can come true,” said Captain Kevin Schmidt over the microphone on-board the new Lady Luau vessel.

“I was in IT for twenty-some years. If you would have told me six years ago that I’m going to be a full-time riverboat captain, I would have told you, ‘You’re crazy.’ But here I am, Captain Kevin,” he said with a smile.

The Lady Luau is the first of her kind, a double-decker, and can take 24 passengers.

The tiki boat goes up and down the Ohio River and showcases some of the best views of the city.

“When you get out here, you’re going to feel the power of this river. It is majestic. You’ll also get a sense of the history of the river. It’s very historic, things that have occurred here,” Schmidt said.

Schmidt and deckhand Marissa Shannon will let you serve up just about whatever you’d like to bring.

“I’m involved in safety for the tour, but also just to make your SS Tiki Tour experience the best that it can be,” said Shannon.

A ride on the Lady Luau brings five star service, from helping load coolers to singing along to karaoke…and to even finding that last shaker of salt.

The sky is the limit.

“Since it’s private cruises, you can be as mild or as wild as people want,” said Schmidt.

Over the years, SS Tiki Tours has hosted kid friendly parties, office, parties, divorce parties, bachelorette parties, and even celebration of life ceremonies.

“I think this is a unique and fun way to be outside, to work outside, and to help people make them love the city as much as I do,” Shannon said.

Schmidt will even throw in plenty of Cincinnati history to help highlight the city he loves.

“Being outdoors, meeting the people, driving the boats is fun. Every day is an adventure out here. What better job? It’s the best job in the world actually,” he said.
