At long last, it’s the weekend! Below, you’ll find a quick guide — based on information from the MTA — to the biggest planned service changes on the city’s subways and rails.

Subway service changes

2 and 5 trains in the Bronx

Between 11:30 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday, 2 and 5 trains won't run between East 180th Street and 149th Street-Grand Concourse because of track replacement.

Riders can take a free shuttle buses that will be running along two routes, according to the MTA:

  • Local, making all 2 and 5 stops between East 180th Street and 149th Street-Grand Concourse
  • Nonstop between East 180th Street and 149th Street-Grand Concourse

2 trains will run in two sections every 12 minutes during the day and evening, the MTA says:

  • Between Wakefield-241st Street and East 180th Street
  • Between 149th Street-Grand Concourse and Flatbush Avenue-Brooklyn College

5 trains will run in two sections:

  • Between Eastchester-Dyre Avenue and East 180th Street every 12 minutes all weekend
  • Between Bowling Green and 149th Street-Grand Concourse, and on the 4 train line to and from Burnside Avenue every 20 minutes during the day and evening

D, N, Q and R trains in Brooklyn and Manhattan

Between 11:45 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday, 96th Street-bound Q trains will run on the R train line from DeKalb Avenue to Canal Street; Manhattan-bound R and N local trains will run express from 36th Street to Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center and on the Q train line to Canal Street, skipping DeKalb Avenue; Manhattan-bound D local trains will run express from 36th Street to Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center, skipping DeKalb Avenue; and R trains won't run between Whitehall Street-South Ferry and 59th Street in either direction during late nights.

E trains in Manhattan and Queens

Between 9:45 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday, World Trade Center-bound E trains will run on the F train line from 21st Street-Queensbridge to West 4th Street-Washington Square due to track maintenance.

L trains in Brooklyn

Between 11:30 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday, L trains won't run between Lorimer Street and Broadway Junction due to track replacement. 

L trains will run in two sections, according to the MTA:

  • Every eight minutes between 8th Avenue and Lorimer Street during the day and evening
  • Every 10 minutes between Broadway Junction and Canarsie-Rockaway Parkway during the day and evening

L trains will board from the J train platform at Broadway Junction, the MTA noted.

Riders looking to go to stops between Lorimer Street and Broadway Junction can take free shuttle buses, which are running on two routes:

  • Between Lorimer Street and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues, making all stops
  • Between Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues and Broadway Junction, making all stops

Riders can also take A, C, J or M trains for service between Brooklyn and Manhattan.

Staten Island Railway

Between 1:15 a.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Monday, Staten Island Railway trains won't be running between Huguenot and Tottenville in either diection due to maintenance.

Riders can take free shuttle buses for service between the two stops.

1 trains in the Bronx and Manhattan

Between 11:45 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Sunday, South Ferry-bound 1 trains will run nonstop from 242nd Street to Dyckman Street due to track maintenance. Riders can take an uptown train for service to and from bypassed stations.

Between 9:45 p.m. Friday and 10 p.m. Saturday, downtown 1 trains won't stop at 145th Street due to station work. Riders can take an uptown train or take nearby A, C and D trains for service to and from bypassed stations.

And between 11:45 p.m. Saturday and 5 a.m. Monday, uptown 1 trains won't stop at 145th Street due to station work. Riders can take a downtown train or take nearby A, C and D trains for service to and from bypassed stations.

4 trains in the Bronx

Between 9:45 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday, 4 trains will not stop at 138th Street-Grand Concourse due to structural maintenance. Riders can take a Manhattan-bound train for service to and from bypassed stations. 

7 trains in Queens

Between 3:45 a.m. Saturday and 5 p.m. Sunday, Flushing-bound 7 trains will run express from 74th St-Broadway to Mets-Willets Point due to station work. Riders can take a Manhattan-bound train for service to and from bypassed stations. 

Trains will be stopping at the Manhattan-bound platform at Junction Boulevard, and will run every eight minutes during the day and evening.

A, C and E trains in Manhattan

Between 9:45 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday, uptown C and A local trains will run express from Canal Street to 59th Street-Columbus Circle, and uptown E trains will run express from Canal Street to 42nd Street-Port Authority Bus Terminal due to track replacement.

Riders can take a downtown local train for service to and from Spring Street and 23rd Street, or take the E train for service to and from 50th Street.

And between 11:45 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday, downtown C and A local trains will run nonstop from 125th Street to 59th Street-Columbus Circle due to structural maintenance.

Riders can take an uptown train for service to and from bypassed stations.

D trains in the Bronx

Between 9:45 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday, Manhattan-bound D trains won't stop at 182nd-183rd Streets due to accessibility work.

Riders can take a Norwood-bound train for service to and from bypassed stations.

D trains in Brooklyn

Between 3:45 a.m. Saturday and 10 p.m. Sunday, Manhattan-bound D trains will run express from Bay Parkway to Ninth Avenue and stop only at 62nd Street due to structural work.

Riders can take a Coney Island-bound train for service to and from bypassed stations.

F and G trains in Brooklyn

Between 11:45 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday, Coney Island-bound F and Church Avenue-bound G trains will run express from Smith-9th Streets to Church Avenue due to signal modernization.

Riders can take a Manhattan-bound F or Court Square-bound G train for service to and from bypassed stations.

N trains in Queens

Between 11:45 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday, Manhattan-bound N trains will run nonstop from Astoria Boulevard to Queensboro Plaza due to accessibility work.

Riders can take an Astoria-bound train for service to and from bypassed stations.

Q trains in Brooklyn

Between 11:45 p.m. Friday and 5.am. Monday, Coney Island-bound Q trains will run express from Prospect Park to Sheepshead Bay due to electrical work.

Riders can take a Manhattan-bound train for service to and from bypassed stations.
