LITHOPOLIS, Ohio - One group in Central Ohio is feeding the hungry, one Blessing Box at a time.

  • A Blessing Box is an outdoor cabinet, set in a public place and filled with anything that might be seen as a blessing to someone in need.
  • There are 31 Blessing Boxes throughout the Columbus area.
  •  Spectrum News 1 visited one group as they filled a Blessing Box in Lithopolis ahead of Thanksgiving.

Gretchen Davis said she brought the idea to Columbus after her sister did the same in South Carolina. Davis said it was a great way to teach children the importance of giving.

"They [Childen] know that not everybody has dinner on the table every night, a warm bed to sleep in, a new toothbrush when they need one, and so we come out here and we stock boxes like this and we talk about what this means to somebody else," she said.
