AUSTIN, Texas – As more flooding is anticipated, a local animal shelter is asking for help to find temporary homes for pets.

Austin Pets Alive is preemptively trying to find places for animals to go by noon on Thursday in the event its facility floods. Flooding is expected on Cesar Chavez at Lamar Boulevard, which is close to the APA’s downtown locations.

A spokesperson for ATX Floods, a website that maps road closures, said Cesar Chavez will most likely close.

To become a foster email foster@austinpetsalive.org to receive the application. For those who are already fosters APA will immediately match them with a pet.
