AUSTIN, Texas – Local flooding is expected to close some roadways between downtown and South Austin on Thursday.
A spokesperson for ATX Floods, a website that maps road closures, said in anticipation of Lady Bird Lake flooding there are two points in Austin that might close completely.
One lane of Cesar Chavez closed around 10:30 a.m. at Lamar Boulevard.
Closures:
- Cesar Chavez at Lamar Boulevard
- Pleasant Valley Road at the Longhorn Dam
If those highly trafficked areas do close, drivers should expect to see a lot of congestion. Drivers can use Interstate 35, the Congress Avenue Bridge, and MoPac as alternative routes.
