A year and a half ago the Islamic Center of Lake Travis burned down and since then civic and faith leaders stepped in to help rebuild. Thanks to all of their hard work the new space opened its doors days before Ramadan was set to begin. Muslim leaders say it elevated the message of Ramadan or personal growth and charity

"Churches around here, a lot of support from synagogues, temples, non-faith communities, faith communities. We all got the encouragement saying: we are with you," said Shakeel Rashed of the Islamic Center of Lake Travis.

Renovations aren't done just yet. Community leaders say there are plans to expand and build a library, a basketball court and a community clinic.
