AUSTIN, Texas – Austin police have identified the man killed in the North Austin explosion as 39-year-old Anthony Stephan House.
In a press conference Monday afternoon, police confirmed that a "package" exploded on the front porch of a house on the 1100 block of Haverford Drive on March 2, around 6: 55 a.m. House was critically injured in the explosion and was transported to Round Rock Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 7:48 a.m.
APD said this package was left with the intention to hurt and possibly kill someone, and are still asking anyone with information on a motive, to please contact them.
The explosion is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. As a part of the post-blast team, officials went from house to house in the neighborhood asking people what they saw or heard.
Neighbors described hearing a loud boom and then saw the windows of their home shake around 7 a.m.
Investigators have still not specified what the device was, but did say they believe this is an isolated incident.
House’s death is being investigated as suspicious.
