AUSTIN, Texas – A man in his 40s has died after an explosion at a home in North Austin Friday morning.
The explosion was reported just before 7 a.m. at the 1100 block of Haverford Drive. According to Austin Police Chief Brian Manley, the man was transported to St. David’s Round Rock with critical injuries where he later died around 8 a.m.
In an update with police just before 11 a.m., Manley said a device exploded on the front porch of the home. However, he did not specify what the device was, but did say this is an isolated incident.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is at the scene along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
The FBI is going door to door to ask residents what they saw or heard. Neighbors described hearing a loud boom and then saw the windows of their home shake around 7 a.m.
