TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas – One of the people found dead on Dec. 11 has been identified and determined to have died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Travis County Sheriff’s Office.

On Dec. 11, a man and a child were found deceased in the Granada Hills subdivision of Travis County. The man has been identified as 42-year-old Yariv Kaplan. The name of the female child has not been released.

The Travis County Sheriffs were called for a welfare check around 5:44 a.m. on Monday. Deputies entered the house after their knocks on the door went unanswered. The two bodies were found in the house with gunshot wounds.

The final ruling from the Travis County Medical Examiner's Office is pending toxicology results.

Neighbor Margaret Covell lives across the street from the residence.

“I want everyone in our neighborhood to take the time to check on their neighbors,” said Covell. “Just the take the time, even if you don’t feel really up to it, maybe they need it more than you do.”
