AUSTIN, Texas — A popular Austin barbecue joint is re-opening its doors after a fire shut it down for three months.

Franklin Barbecue closed down in August when high winds from Hurricane Harvey started a fire in their smokehouse.

The owner, Stacy Franklin, said she didn't expect they would be closed this long, but they're excited to welcome back their customers.

Since the fire, the restaurant has done some rebuilding, along with some improvements, like painting. There is still construction going on to fix the patio and smokehouse.

Franklin said they are thrilled with the amount of support they received while being closed.

"People, who have never even eaten here, or customer, old friends, old customers, offering spaces for us to cook in or ways to help our staff,” said Franklin. “We are looking forward to getting back to work and seeing everybody again. We are so thankful."

Franklin Barbecue opens at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. The restaurant expects to have long lines as they normally do. Before the fire, customers often would start lining up at a 6 a.m.

Once they sell out of food, they will close for the day, which usually happens around 2 p.m. or 3 p.m.
