DANSVILLE, N.Y. — Livingston County is welcoming its first ever Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Program.

Casa Trinity, a long-time recovery center, celebrated its expansion Wednesday with a groundbreaking ceremony. The new 24/7 residential center for those battling substance abuse will be located in Dansville.

The million dollar project will have 25 detox beds and offer a place to stay, medical care, stabilization and counseling. The facility will also have crisis beds.

“Livingston County particularly has never had this level of service here so we have found that it’s really difficult to get people to other programs. There’s not enough beds. The whole state is inflicted with the opioid epidemic so the need is so great,” said Casa Trinity CEO, Ann Domingos.

Casa Trinity officials say this program will be different because of its seamless care and its commitment to house individuals longer than the standard 28-day treatment period.

“There are a lot of people in this county that need residential services and we have to ship them out to other counties that are already overflowing," said Casa Trinity counselor John Pritchard. "There are huge wait times and during those wait times people are overdosing so having an inpatient facility in our community is going to be essential.”

Construction on the Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Center is expected to be completed by January 2019.
