Federal authorities say a woman was arrested Saturday at Greater Rochester International Airport after they found a loaded gun in her carry-on bag.

The North Carolina woman was stopped by the Transportation Security Administration after the handgun was detected during an X-ray checkpoint.

TSA alerted the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded, confiscated the gun and arrested the woman on a weapons charge.

She told authorities the gun belonged to her boyfriend and that she didn't know it was in the bag.

This marks the fourth time TSA officers in Rochester have spotted a firearm at the checkpoint so far this year.

No guns were detected at the airport’s checkpoint in 2016.
