Canandaigua native Adam Scott is in the New York-Penn League after the Cleveland Indians drafted him in the fourth round out of Wofford College in South Carolina.

“At first, it was kind of just a dream but once I was able to go and play college baseball, develop and kind of have some success there, it opened my eyes up to: I might have a chance to play at the next level and here I am, I'm lucky enough to have that opportunity,” he said.

After four games in the Arizona Rookie League, Scott got the call up to Mahoning Valley, where he is piggybacking, virtually job-sharing a spot in the rotation.

“I'm paired with another kid on our team and we both were starters in college, so just based on innings we've thrown in the past, that's how they limit it, have two people for one starter,” said Scott.

Like all minor leaguers, Scott is driving toward one goal.

“I have my mind set on making the big leagues. I want to win. So, if they don't think I can help win as a starter but they think I can help win as a long reliever, closer, whatever it is, I'm 100 percent willing to do it, because at the end of the day, it's always 60'6" and one pitch at a time and all that stuff that you hear, but it's fun regardless of what it is,” he said.
