The Monroe County Board of Elections calculated the final election results from the midterm election on Tuesday.

Republican Alecia Mazzo and Democrat Fatimat Reid have been selected by voters as Monroe County's new Family Court judges.

The results of that race were decided late Tuesday after the board spent days tallying the 8,000 mail-in ballots it received.

The Board of Elections said each ballot that was collected had to be postmarked before the November 6th election date.

Representatives for different candidates were on site to monitor the process.

“A lot of people voted on Election Day but a lot of people voted absentee. Those absentee ballots were able to be postmarked on November 5th , the day before election and prior to and we have received thousands of them since that date,” said Doug French, Monroe County Board of Elections.
