Sentencing for Charlie Tan, who was convicted on federal weapons charges, has been pushed back.

Tan, who took a plea deal back in June on two counts of making false statements and purchasing a firearm with the intent to commit a felony, faces up to 25 years in prison.

He was expected to be sentenced in October, but Tan's defense attorney confirms that has been pushed back to November 19.

According to court paperwork, on February 5, 2015, Tan asked his friend Whitney Knickerbocker to buy a shotgun at the Walmart in Cortland and later that night used that gun to shoot his father Jim three times with hollow point bullets, the third shot, to the face, being fatal.

Tan was charged with second-degree murder for his father's death, but Judge James Piampiano dismissed the charge citing lack of evidence after a jury failed to reach a verdict.
