ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- A Rochester police officer was taken to the hospital after he was dragged alongside his police car following a home invasion robbery Wednesday morning.

Police responded to a call for a burglary on Eighth Street around 2:30 a.m. When they arrived they found two suspects in a home invasion robbery where a victim had been pistol whipped.

The two suspects ran from officers and one is still on the loose. One suspect was found inside a nearby vehicle and the other struggled with an officer, broke free and climbed inside a police patrol car. The suspect drove away dragging officer Chris Schreier about 100 feet as he tried to stop the suspect.

Officer Schreier was taken to the hospital to be treated for scrapes, road burns and bruises.

The vehicle was later found abandoned near Pershing and Rocket Street.

One suspect was taken into custody after police found him inside a vehicle on the corner of Eighth Street and Wabash Street. Police found a revolver outside the car.
