The Row for Hope charity event, consisting of seven rowers from Rochester's McQuaid Jesuit High school making a trek from Buffalo to Albany, has been interrupted after their boat sank on Oneida Lake.

Parents of the crew team say the boat was taking on water about six miles into the trip.

According to a social media post Tuesday morning, the boat sank and all seven members were taken aboard an Oswego County Sheriff's Office boat, which was escorting the boys on their journey. All of them are safe and have been taken to shore.

The team says they will resume their journey in Rome, New York and continue their journey to Albany.

Tuesday was supposed to be day five of the Row For Hope, which raises money for Camp Good Days and Special Times.
