One person has been arrested and the Monroe County Sheriff's Office is looking for other possible suspects in connection with a recent string of burglaries and reports of stolen vehicles in west side towns of Monroe County.

Burglaries have been reported in the towns of Chili, Parma and Hamlin.

Police say the incidents appear to involve multiple suspects who choose rural or residential areas and go house to house, entering garages and sheds looking for property to steal.

Most of the stolen vehicles appear to have been left unsecured with keys inside of the car.

"As of right now it appears there are 15 stolen vehicles, again mostly dirt bikes and all terrain vehicles, most of which are unsecured with the keys," said Sergeant Joseph Firpo, Monroe County Sheriff's Department.

Eight vehicles have been recovered, five from the city of Rochester.

Deputies arrested Nicolas Albarran, 22, and charged him with criminal possession of stolen property.

Police say he was arrested on Route 390 in Gates while inside of a stolen vehicle which broke down.

Investigators believe up to five people are responsible for more than a dozen break-ins.

Officials urge homeowners to lock up unattended property and not to leave keys inside of vehicles.
