The West Irondequoit Central School District says a teacher has resigned after evidence emerged that she engaged in inappropriate relationships with at least two students at Irondequoit High School.

The District says the female teacher had a temporary assignment at the school.

In a statement posted to the school's website, administrators said the teacher was hired after a thorough vetting process that included references and a backgrounds check, all of which came back without any negative reports.

The district will now file reports with the New York State Department of Education.

The teacher's name has not been released.
