ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- A local IT company has developed an alert system designed to update the Rochester community regarding missing children and vulnerable adults in the area.

“It really bothered me that some of the systems that we have in place today weren't able to be activated and weren’t able to come on time because of different regulations,” said Simple Tech Innovations President, Andrew Hollister.

Users can sign up to receive and submit emergency notifications by visiting https://rocalerts.com

The alert system is designed to provide information to the public regarding missing people before an Amber Alert is issued.

Users will receive text message notifications when someone goes missing, with available information.

“We just input it, send it out. People will get a text message right on their phone that says it's a missing person, their name, their last known location and a link they can click on for pictures and more details,” said Hollister.

“We want to make it so that the next time somebody goes missing, instead of hours and days before notifications go out, we want to make it immediate.”
