WALWORTH, N.Y. — Five structures were damaged in an early Sunday morning fire in Wayne County.

Neighbors say the fire started around 5 a.m. in a vacant home on West Walworth Road.

Firefighters arrived to find the home engulfed in flames. They say the fire quickly spread to an old lawnmower shop next door. They say oil stored in the building made it hard to get the flames under control.

It wasn't long before those flames spread to yet another neighboring house, including a car. Two adults and two dogs were able to escape that home. Firefighters entered the house to wake up the residents and help them get out. They are now being assisted by the Red Cross.

The flames were so intense two other structures suffered heat damage.

Multiple fire departments were called in to assist from both Wayne and Monroe Counties.

No injuries have been reported. Investigators are now working to find out what may have started the fire.
