A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries Monday when a van pulled in front of his bike.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says the wreck happened around 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Panorama Trail and Penfield Road.

Deputies say the 55-year-old rider was heading south on Panorama Trail and the van tried to make a left hand turn onto Penfield Road.

The bike hit the side of the van throwing the rider.

"The van operator was by herself. She's a 31-year-old female out of the Town of Riga and the motorcycle rider is a 55-year-old male out of the Town of Brighton," said Lt. Dean Tuthill, Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies described the rider's injuries as potentially life-threatening.

His name has not been released yet.
