After Stephen Walbert and Jennifer Meyerink were married at Rochester General Hospital, they vowed to take things one day at a time.
Three months ago, Walbert was diagnosed with terminal cancer, after he lost touch with, then reconnected, with the woman of his dreams of more than 50 years.
Walbert was stationed in Trinidad in the 1960s and was working as a disc jockey when he met Jennifer, but they lost contact after he left in 1965. Each went on to start families of their own, but they later rekindled the flame over Facebook and reunited in 2014.
Their wedding ceremony was in Stephen's hospital room, and while he hasn't made a decision yet on whether to continue treatment or enter hospice care, he'll have someone by his side.
