BRIGHTON, N.Y. -- Some high school students are getting a head start in the technology field, thanks to a program through Monroe Community College.
The Summer Advanced Manufacturing Experience is a three week class that prepares high school students for technology careers.
Students were also connected to companies in Monroe County. They created three projects during their 90 hours of training and went on field trips to nearby tech companies each week.
"Just introduce them to the great world of advanced manufacturing and the great jobs that are out there," teacher Leonard Hall said. "It's not dirty work anymore, ya know, it's really great work. You can make a good living doing it, so just making sure that you can introduce them to the great jobs out there because there are so many."
Each graduate received three credit hours toward a technical degree or certificate from MCC.
