ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- At the Public Safety Training Center, Crime Stoppers presented $1,500 in checks Thursday to the Rochester Police Department, Greece Police Department and Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

Departments cover food and medical costs for K-9s, but sometimes operations can get expensive. Rocky, a 6 1/2-year-old German Shepherd and Rochester PD mainstay, had a cancerous tumor in his leg. Thanks to donations like this, Rocky's not going anywhere.

"We were able to get him the medical treatment he needed, and we plan to keep him in service for a good long time," said Rochester Police Chief Michael Ciminelli.

"Rocky's back to normal, he's working the road. Things look good," said Officer Patrick Carney, Rocky's partner.
