ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A civil case continues to take shape by a man acquitted of a double murder from 16-years-ago.

Charles Pierre is living in Trinidad where he was deported following his exoneration and release from prison back in 2015.

Tuesday, he was meeting via web conference with attorneys from Rochester, Monroe County and New York state as part of his lawsuit for wrongful imprisonment.

Pierre was found not guilty at a second trial in the murders of Clara Sconiers and Thomas Reed.

The two were found dead in a city home after a fire in 2002.

Pierre maintained his innocence throughout the 13 years he was in prison.

He was granted a new trial when another inmate in prison for murder, Darrell Boyd, started saying he had committed the crime.

Prosecutors have previously said it was unlikely  Boyd would be charged as there wasn't enough evidence to corroborate his claim.
