RICHMOND, N.Y. — A guilty plea in the case of a former bank employee accused of stealing business records from his former employer.

The attorney for Nathan Van Bortel says his client pleaded guilty Tuesday to a misdemeanor charge of criminal possession of computer-related material.

As a result, he'll serve eight weekends in jail starting next month.

The Honeoye resident was arraigned in September on three felony counts accusing him of stealing computer records from Canandaigua National Bank where he worked as a financial planner.

Van Bortel, who is also the Richmond Town Supervisor, will serve in that role until the end of the year. He did not seek re-election.
