FAIRPORT, N.Y. — There are now more electric car charging stations available throughout the Village of Fairport.

There are three public stations set-up to charge five electric vehicles at once.

There's one located in the parking lot at Village Landing, another on North Main Street and a third located in the parking lot on Lift Bridge Lane at Water Street.

"The reason we are adding them is because the demand keeps going up for them," said Bryan White, General Manager of Fairport Electric Operations. "Electric vehicles are more common now. It used to be a luxury item, now it is much more practical, so as the demand increases we will start putting these out. We want to be able to serve all our customers and anybody with an electrical vehicle demand when you visit the Village of Fairport."

The village plans to add two more charging stations soon.

Motorists are asked to limit charge use to less than four hours at a time.
