WEBSTER, N.Y. — Webster Town Supervisor Ronald Nesbitt is responding to rumors the town is shutting down the popular Bay Side Pub in Sandbar Park.

Nesbitt says in a Facebook post that the town board received a matching grant of $118,000 to look into how it can upgrade both the Irondequoit Bay and lake sides of the park.

He says Bayside's owners have known for years the restaurant sits on park land and is on a month to month license agreement to operate on that property.

Nesbitt says there hasn't been any notice given to the owners to leave, but they were told the town is exploring options for the park.

Nesbitt said in part:

"Currently the committee is looking at every aspect of the park, including options for incorporating the restaurant building. They are considering all ideas for that area. The committee will be presenting their plan ideas to the public in the near future. Residents will be able to view all of the plan concepts, ask questions, and offer up their opinions."
