The 80-year-old man who died after falling into the Hudson River and drowning in South Glens Falls has been identified as James Minnick of Queensbury.

The drowning happened Sunday afternoon at the canoe launch near Coopers Cave. Minnick was with his wife at the time, we’re told, and she called 911. Responders tried to revive him at the scene, but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead in an ambulance on the way to Glens Falls Hospital.

South Glens Falls Police continue to investigate.
