COLONIE, N.Y. — The rollercoaster week for Grandma’s Pies & Restaurant in Colonie is ending on a sweet note.

Open for 42 years, the popular business closed its doors for what its customers thought was for good last Sunday.

But not so fast.

The owner of La Fiesta on Central Avenue confirms he is purchasing Grandma’s Pies and keeping just about everything the same.

Alejandro Morales tells Spectrum News the menu will be reviewed and possibly tweaked, but the pies and staff will stay the same.

Morales says he knows the former owners and is a fan of Grandma’s himself.

When he found out the restaurant was closing, he didn’t think twice about buying it.

“A lot of people were upset, even we were upset, we are very happy, the whole family is happy about it, La Fiesta is a family restaurant, and Grandma’s is going to be a family restaurant too," said Morales.

Grandma’s Pies is scheduled to reopen on August 1.
