COLONIE, N.Y. — Hundreds of customers said their goodbyes to Grandma’s Pies on Sunday as the Colonie staple served its final famous pies.

The store’s owner didn’t want to talk to Spectrum News, but manager Darcie Degener says the restaurant's co-owners were having financial issues.

Still, the final week of Grandma's Pies saw a big boost in business.

In fact, 'Grandma’s' has had trouble keeping up with demand for their famous cream of turkey soup and pie.

“We are employees here of longevity so you have to consider that too and be sympathetic with us, that we're losing our job, and we're losing a family, between customers and employees," said Degener.

The store closed for good at 3 p.m. Sunday after serving the Capital Region for 42 years.
