ROTTERDAM, N.Y. -- On Mother's Day, like most moms, 33-year-old Tara is spending it with her family -- at a baseball game.

On a normal day she would be running her business, Mothers and Daughters Transportation -- a car service company she built from the ground up in 2016.

Tara Engel said there is a need for more women in the car service industry.

"The transportation industry nowadays its lacking a lot it very cut throat and male dominated," she said.

So she and her mother worked together to fuel the business with just a few fleets and her family by her side she got the cars rolling.

Today Tara's biggest driving force behind what she does is family.

"Trying to figure out how to survive and support them was a really tough thing to do. I get to be with my kids that’s the biggest thing especially with my son," Tara said.

Her son Caleb was recently diagnosed with a rare form of bone disease, and at the same time Tara is fighting her battle against cancer. She says the company is the glue that holds the family together. She says she wants to touch peoples lives by the legacy her business leaves behind.

"At least I can say I lived my life to the fullest, and I did the best job I can do that I can do for them and thats the kind of mom I'll leave behind," said Tara.
