Saratoga Springs Police are still searching for the man who robbed a busy bank on Broadway Wednesday afternoon. Matt Hunter reports.
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Just after noon on Wednesday in the thick of downtown's busy holiday shopping season, Saratoga Springs Police received a call for a bank robbery at Broadway's Adirondack Trust.
"They had a man come in and [he] passed a note demanding cash,” Saratoga Springs Police Department Lieutenant Robert Jillson said. "They gave him the cash and he left the bank on foot."
Investigators say no weapon was displayed and no one was hurt, but the bank's surveillance cameras did catch a view of the suspect.
"We're lucky,” Jillson said. “Adirondack Trust made some decent investments into its technology. We couldn't ask for a much better quality photo than that."
With the help of State Police, officers are looking a white male approximately 6 feet tall, possibly still wearing a winter hat, dark sunglasses and a sweatshirt with "Petraccione Plumbing and Heating" written on the back.
"We've been out talking to other store owners looking for whatever video we can from the downtown area, trying to figure out where he came from, where he went to," Jillson said.
It's still unknown how much money the suspect got away with. Officers are hopeful anyone who recognizes him will call them on their anonymous tips line at (518) 584-TIPS or at (518) 584-1800.
"The biggest component now is finding someone know willing to say 'hey, I know who that person is and this is his name,' ” Jillson said. “That's what we're looking for."
