SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Investigators are still trying to figure out how a fire started at a popular restaurant in Saratoga Springs.

Authorities say it happened just before 10 p.m. Sunday at Lake Local on Union Ave and Saratoga Lake.

Crews say it started in the back of the building and was mostly in the attic, but there’s a lot of damage in that area.

No one was inside the restaurant at the time, and no one was injured.

"Once it gets in the attic, it can go one way or another just the way building construction is sometimes older buildings sometimes they have multiple layers to go through. The firefighters did a fantastic job getting in there and knocking that fire down," said Joseph Dolan, with the Saratoga Springs Fire Department

The fire chief says crews were able to save some of the restaurant’s items.
