ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Six people were arrested outside a fundraiser for Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard Thursday.

Orchard Park police say the protesters were becoming disruptive.

The group "Showing Up for Racial Justice" believes the amount of inmate deaths during his tenure is cause for removal.

"There have been over 20 people who have died in the holding center under his watch. A lot of suspicious deaths, so we're here to call attention to that. And to the fact that we want people to be aware about what he's done and to consider voting against him in the November election," said Sara Jablonski, SURJ Buffalo member.

Howard did not immediately return a request for comment.
