BUFFALO, N.Y. -- A local activist group is heading to court to help save the Western New York Children's Psychiatric Center.

Steve Cohen of the Hogan Willig law firm is representing the Coalition to Save The Children's Psychiatric Center.

The group is planning to file a lawsuit against Gov. Cuomo and State Mental Health Commissioner Ann Marie Sullivan.

The Office of Mental Health wants to shut down the center and move its young patients to the Buffalo Psychiatric Center — an adult facility.

The State Legislature unanimously passed a bill to block the closure last month.

Advocates say despite overwhelming public support, Cuomo is choosing not to sign the bill.

The Coalition is planning to file its lawsuit sometime within the next 24 hours.
