The Olmsted Parks Conservancy is considering some 20 possible projects as part of its next five-year plan.

Residents are encouraged to speak up about what they’d like to see, selecting their preferences by placing green dots next to the projects during a second round of community input meetings.

Several residents brought up concerns with Gates Circle, particularly when it comes to people driving the wrong way on streets surrounding it.

"I think there needs to be very clear and increased signage, so that people know which streets to go down and where not to go down because I don't want anyone getting hurt," said Nina Wright.

Stuart Shapiro lives across the street at Canterbury Woods, and says he would like to be able to walk to the circle, but there's currently no safe way to do so.

"A good model is the circle in front of City Hall, and there are pedestrian walkways from each of the surrounding areas into the middle of the circle," Shapiro said.

Brian Dold, the conservancy’s director of planning and advocacy, said while the Parks Conservancy is focusing on projects for the next few years, he welcomes suggestions for longer-term issues to keep an eye on.

He says he's already received several for Delaware Park.

"The 198, continuing to work with that, looking at recreation within the park, and some of the larger recreation features that take up a lot of space," Dold said.

The Parks Conservancy is holding another meeting on Wednesday, focusing on MLK Park, at the Buffalo Science Museum.
