HAMBURG, N.Y. -- The hours-long search of the Southtowns that led police to issue a Code Red is now categorized as an "isolated domestic incident."

Police say it all started around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, with reports of shots fired in Lackawanna. People in two cars left that scene and headed toward Hamburg on South Park Avenue. The cars crashed near Abbott Road, then the suspects ran off.

Two hours later, Hamburg Police issued Code Red Alert, asking people to seek shelter and stay inside. On foot and in the air, several law enforcement agencies searched the area. No one was taken into custody, and the search was canceled around 9:30.

An update from Lackawanna City Hall stated police there categorized it as an isolated, domestic incident, and that the investigation is ongoing.
