BUFFALO, N.Y. — Those who say they were abused by priests within the Buffalo Diocese say they have waited long enough and deserve to know more.

The law firm Anderson & Associates released an amended report Tuesday demanding the Diocese provide all the information it has about the 42 priests that have been accused of sexual abuse. Victims deserve to know where those priests served through the duration of their careers, the report says.

Last month, the firm released a report listing 12 priests accused of abusing minors in the past; within days, the Diocese released its own list, bringing the total up to 42. Bishop Richard Malone later posted a video apologizing to victims.

Michael Reck, an attorney with Anderson & Associates, says the Diocese has this information readily available and should come forward with the details in the name of transparency. The information in the latest report was compiled by searching through the Catholic directory.

“The reality is, those 42 [names] are likely a drop in the bucket,” Reck said. “We know that 42 is less than the 53 that Monsignor Cunningham disclosed back in 2004.”

Advocates and attorneys say more and more alleged victims are coming forward.

They’re also asking the Diocese to expand its victims compensation program to include more people who’ve survived abuse.
