BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Buffalo Sabres defenseman Zach Bogosian stepped off the ice and into the kitchen in an effort to fight devastating illnesses.

Bogosian blended a custom juice for patrons at The Healthy Scratch Thursday.

Proceeds benefited Bogosian's BOGO Bunch Foundation. The organization raises funds for cancer research.

It's a cause that's close to his heart.

"My grandmother battled cancer most of her adult life," said Bogosian. "I think through research and treatments she was able to stick around a lot longer than maybe my family anticipated."

The BOGO Bunch will hold its first Casino for a Cause fundraiser January 7 at 7 p.m. at the Town Ballroom. Sabres players will work the gaming tables at the 1920's-themed event. Funds raised will go towards the Buffalo Wellness Centers Juicer Fund and Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
