BUFFALO, N.Y. - Volunteers gathered at the Red Cross headquarters on Delaware Avenue Sunday morning to plant American flags in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the September 11th terror attacks.

A flag will be placed on Clement Mansion's lawn for each of the nearly 3,000 people who died.

Western New York Families of Nine-Eleven have been organizing this display of flags since 2004. “We believe that it's important for the community to be reminded,” said Cynthia Blest. “We have a tremendous amount of support. Volunteers who come to assist us, some don't even know us and they show up to help put the flags in.”

The lawn is open to the public and organizers encourage people to stop by and walk around for a moment of reflection.
